What are the Best Restaurants in Ogunquit?
As Innkeepers of the romantic Hartwell House Inn of Ogunquit, this is the question we are faced with multiple times – just about every single day!
There are lots of restaurants within walking distance of our Ogunquit B&B – and our guests want to make certain that the restaurants they choose to eat at are going to add to the magic and memories of their Ogunquit getaway!
In order to help you better plan your upcoming visit to Ogunquit, we’ve decided to offer some of our best restaurant recommendations here on The Hartwell House Inn blog from time to time.
Our guests are exceedingly fortunate, in that, some of the best dining options available in Ogunquit are those closest to The Hartwell House Inn.
As a matter of fact, the absolute closest restaurant to our Inn also happens to be one of our (and many of our guests’) personal favorites…
It’s called “That Place in Ogunquit”!
Whether you’re looking for lighter fare in a casual bar setting – or a more formal dining room experience with a sophisticated menu – you can find both types of dining experiences at That Place.
An attractive bar area with lots of local color and some LCD TV’s (often filled with New England sports programming) take up one side of the building – which is located just outside of scenic Perkins Cove.
The other half of That Place is a more formal situation with a hostess stand and someone pleasant escorting you to a table in an atmospheric and dripping-with-tasteful-art dining room.
The owners, Rick and Boriana Dolliver, are almost always on site – and they are exceedingly passionate about the experience they’re crafting for their local base and the multitudes of tourists who have heard the good news about this culinary destination on the Southern Maine coast.
The menus at That Place lean, as they should, on a firm foundation of well-crafted, tried-and-true guest favorites. To state it succinctly, this is eclectic American cuisine with hard nods towards the steak and seafood arenas. If you’re looking for lobster – the way most visitors to Maine usually are – you absolutely can’t go wrong with their superb “Lazy Man Lobster” dish, a personal favorite of mine! Flavorful, tender, sweet and succulent local lobster minus the mess!
And since they’re open (just about) year round – chances are you’ll be able to give That Place a visit, even during your late autumn, winter and early spring visits to The Hartwell House Inn of Ogunquit, Maine!
