The Sitting Room in the Perfect Place for your South Coast Maine VacationThe History of the Hartwell House Innhe Hartwell House Inn has been welcoming guests to Ogunquit since it was built in the mid-twentieth century with six guest rooms. Surrounded by an expansive 1-1/2 acre lawn with lily pond and gardens, the Inn is a short walk to the picturesque harbor of Perkins Cove, the quaint village center and artists colony of Ogunquit, and the Marginal Way, a winding footpath that runs for 1-1/4 miles along the rocky edge of southern Maine's Atlantic coast. A beautiful 3-1/2 mile stretch of pristine white sandy beach is less than a mile from the Inn.

The rooms and suites in Hartwell House II, located across the street from Hartwell House I, were added in 1986, bringing the total number of rooms, studios and suites to 16.

In 1986, the Inn acquired the property across the street next to Hartwell House II, which included a 1700’s historic house. In 1995, the Inn's Conference and Function Center and Thompson Green Plaza were built with unique shops and restaurants.
